An 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan’s coast Friday, with a 13-foot tsunami creating a path of destruction that has so far resulted in hundreds of deaths.

Hawaii has been issued a tsunami warning, as well as Oregon and California coasts and parts of Alaska. A tsunami advisory is in effect for southern California.
